Terms of service

These terms cover your use of the Mise. app and website. They're written to be readable; the plain-language summaries are part of the terms, not a substitute for them.
1. What Mise. is
Mise. is a recipe-based calorie and macro tracking app. It's a tool for recording and estimating nutrition information — it is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietary, or health advice. Nutrition values in the app (including database entries and AI estimates) are informational and may contain errors. For decisions about your health, diet, or any medical condition, consult a qualified professional.
2. Your data
Your recipes, pantry, and food log are stored on your device and belong to you. How data is handled is covered in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
3. Subscriptions
- Mise. offers a free tier and a paid subscription (Mise. Pro, monthly or annual), purchased through the App Store.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Free trials, where offered, convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies, as we don't process payments directly.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Mise. to do anything unlawful, attempt to disrupt the service, reverse-engineer the app beyond what applicable law permits, or resell access to its lookup features (including automated or bulk querying of the AI lookup).
5. AI-generated content
AI ingredient lookups produce estimates generated by a third-party AI provider. They're labeled with confidence levels and can be wrong. You're responsible for how you use them.
6. Intellectual property
The Mise. name, logo, app design, and content are owned by Mise. The recipes and data you create in the app are yours.
7. Warranty and liability
Mise. is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app — including decisions made based on nutrition estimates. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or other consumer law that applies to you.
8. Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Mise. after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
